At an online awards ceremony today, it became clear that the material that Sjókovin – Blue Resource, have created in collaboration with the IT company Tøkni og the Faroese Educational authority Nám, had been awarded the silver in category 3 encompassing materials for the age groups 12 – 17 years. The material teaches students about sustainability in the seafood sectors, and connects local and global perspectives through increased knowledge of local food seafood production, whilst relating these to global perspectives and challenges in an integrated way.

We are delighted to announce that The Faroese Research Council has granted funding to a research project coordinated by Blue Resource focusing on the effects of Covid-19 on seafood production in the Faroes. The project is a collaboration between Blue Resource and the University of the Faroe Islands

It is a great pleasure to announce that Blue Resource was formally established on the 30th of March.

Blue Resource was co-founded by three of large fishing companies, Varðin, Framherji and Christian í Grótinum, the aquaculture company Hiddenfjord, and the research company Syntesa. The founders have donated basic capital to the fund. The research to be conducted within Blue Resource will be financed through research activities and consulting services within the seafood sector, in particular.
