Conference on Environmental impacts and energy transition in the Nordic seafood sector

On the 13th of September 2023, a conference on the environmental impacts and energy transitions in the Nordic seafood sector will be held at the Harpa in Reykjavík, Iceland.

The conference will focus on the environmental impact of fisheries and address opportunities to reduce carbon emissions in the fishing industry through energy efficiency measures and shifting to alternative fuels.

The conference is part of a project, initiated by The Working Group for Fisheries (AG-Fisk) within the Nordic Council, and aims to facilitate networking among stakeholders, raise awareness, and share knowledge on past-, present- and future advances in the reduction of environmental impacts in Nordic seafood value chains.

The agenda of the conference facilitates a broad range of stakeholders, including presentations from researchers, producers of equipment for fisheries and aquaculture, representatives from fisheries, and government officials. The agenda can be viewed HERE or at the bottom of this page.

At the conference, it will also be possible for companies or institutions to set up a booth or stand to inform of relevant projects or solutions to reduce the environmental impact of fisheries. If interested, you can contact Unn Laksá at unn@sjokovin.fo or jonas@matis.is.

Sjókovin - Blue Resources will be attending the conference and will have a booth representing our new project, Smart-Fisk. This project is a collaboration between Sjókovin and Faroese fisheries to reduce carbon emissions in Faroese fishing vessels. The overarching aim is to generate the necessary knowledge and awareness to reduce fuel consumption in the Faroese fleet. If you want to know more, we hope to meet you at Harpa.

Attendance is free of charge, but registration takes place here.
